Resolution No. 67 of October 8, 2007, of the Brazilian Health Surveillance Agency – ANVISA provides for Good Practices in Prescription Pharmacies (BPMF). According to the technical regulation, some rules are essential when it comes to humidity control:
– The storage area or room shall be clean, dry, and its temperature and humidity shall be consistent with the products stored. These temperature and humidity conditions shall be defined, monitored, and registered.
– Storage area: The pharmacy should be provided with a storage area with a place for stocking manipulated and/or fractionated products reasonably organized, protected from heat, humidity, and direct sunlight.
Among the materials employed by pharmacies, the cabinets shall also protect the medicine from humidity in order to prevent chemical reactions.

Dehumidifiers are considered essential in these establishments, for they control the humidity and prevent damages to the composition of pills and capsules, such as: deterioration, softening, and development of fungi and bacteria in the product.
